Police Take Action over Alleged Threats against Schools in Bratislava

Bratislava, 23 February (TASR) - Security measures necessitated by alleged threats against schools in Bratislava have been adopted on Monday morning by the police based on information that raised suspicions and required verification, the police posted on a social network, adding that the measures are being carried out in close cooperation with the schools concerned. "As part of our day-to-day investigative and monitoring activities, we've recorded information on social networks concerning alleged threats against schools in the territory of Bratislava," stated the police. As the credibility of the information cannot be underestimated, the police are carrying out the necessary measures in each individual school. The purpose of the security measures is to protect life, health, and property. "The case is being handled by officers of the relevant department under the remit of the Police Corps Regional Directorate in Bratislava," according to the police. In this connection, Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD) stated on a social network that "threats against schools are an unacceptable attack on children and their families. The security services are doing their best to protect children. The perpetrators will bear full responsibility". jrg
