PS to Hold Congress on March 28, Simecka Only Candidate for Top Party Post

Bratislava, 22 February (TASR) - The opposition party Progressive Slovakia will hold its congress on 28 March in Trnava, where it will elect its chair, presidium and vice-chairs, the party's press department has told TASR.
Michal Simecka is the sole candidate for the post of party chair.
Candidates for the posts of vice-chair are Zora Jaurova, Simona Petrik, Ivan Stefunko, Michal Truban, Tomas Valasek, Irena Bihariova, Beata Jurik, Tamara Stohlova, Jaroslav Spisiak, Ivan Korcok, Veronika Cifrova Ostrihonova and Martin Pekar.
The party elects new leadership at its congress every two years. Simecka has led Progressive Slovakia since 2022 and was re-elected chair in May 2024. Before him, the party was led from 2020 by Bihariova, and previously by Truban and Stefunko.
According to the party's website, the presidium currently consists of the chair and 19 members. The party's current vice-chairs are Jaurova, Stefunko, Truban, Valasek and Petrik.
