Martin, 21 February (TASR) - Pharmaceutical company Helgeheim is scheduled to launch serial production at its new facility in the town of Martin in Zilina region in the second quarter of next year, stated member of Helgeheim's board of directors Slavomir Petrik at a joint press briefing held by the company's management and representatives of Martin municipal authority.
The company has found a location for the production of sterile injectable pharmaceutical products on the premises of the former ZTS machinery works. "Medicines used in hospitals will be produced here, so these aren't medicines that will be available in pharmacies, these are painkillers, anaesthetics, basically hospital medicine," stated Petrik.
According to him, the preparations for production in Martin have been divided into three phases, with an investment of approximately €27 million in the first phase. The company would like to start serial production of medicines in the second quarter of next year. "We're launching product transfer processes at the end of this year. Of course, as the production of human medicines is a relatively complicated process, the start of serial production doesn't depend on us alone, but also on our state authority, which must grant us a certificate for producing medicines," noted Petrik.
Martin Mayor Jan Danko is pleased that the former ZTS site is gradually being repurposed and creating higher value-added job opportunities. "I also see it as a positive for the city that pharmaceutical production is clean production and not an industry that damages the environment. In addition, such cutting-edge technologies also provide opportunities for scientific research," said Danko.
