Bratislava, 20 February (TASR) - The Investment, Regional Development and Informatisation Ministry (MIRRI) has launched a public consultation procedure concerning the project documentation for the upcoming 'National Artificial Intelligence Laboratory for Cybersecurity (AI CyberLab)' project aimed at strengthening the protection of Slovakia's critical infrastructure and increasing its resilience against cyber threats, TASR reported on Friday based on information provided by MIRRI. The new laboratory is to be used for developing, testing and validating solutions using AI in cyber security. According to the ministry, it should help to detect threats more quickly, prevent incidents and support the safe and responsible practical use of AI. The project is to be financed from the Programme Slovakia 2021–2027 and the state budget. "Cyber-security today isn't just a technical subject, but a question of trust and the stability of the state. We want the National Artificial Intelligence Laboratory for Cybersecurity to be set up in close cooperation with the expert community," stated Investment, Regional Development and Informatisation Minister Samuel Migal (Independent). At the same time, he called on experts from academia, the technology sector and wider professional public to participate in the public consultation procedure. Pavel Hajdin, general director of MIRRI's Cybersecurity Section, described the project as a systematic investment in building capacities for the detection, analysis and prevention of cyber threats. "Our goal is to actively seek feedback from the expert community and incorporate their relevant input before finally setting the parameters," added Hajdin. According to the ministry, anyone who possesses professional experience or is keen to contribute towards developing safe AI use in Slovakia can participate in the preparation process. The implementation of the project and the construction of the laboratory is expected to begin following its approval, some time at the beginning of 2027. jrg/df
