Bratislava, 19 February (TASR) - The Slovak government prefers a diplomatic solution to a military one also in the case of Iran, the Foreign and European Affairs Ministry's communications department stated on Thursday in response to the situation in Iran.
"The ministry regularly assesses the risks in close contact with the Slovak Embassy in Tehran, and we still believe that diplomatic solutions haven't been exhausted. In this case, too, the Slovak government clearly prefers dialogue, prevention, and diplomatic solutions over military ones," stated the ministry.
US President Donald Trump on Thursday urged Iran to strike a meaningful deal otherwise bad things will happen. He made his statement in a speech in Washington at the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace, which he initiated.
White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said on Wednesday (18 February) that it would be "wise" for Tehran to reach an agreement with the United States, adding that there are many reasons for an attack on Iran. According to several foreign media outlets, the strike could take place as early as this weekend, but Trump hasn't yet made a decision. Representatives of the US and Iran held talks in Geneva this week.
