UVO Respects VsZP's Steps, But Maintains That Law Was Violated

Bratislava, 18 February (TASR) - The Public Procurement Office (UVO) respects the legal steps taken by state-run health insurance company VsZP, which has appealed to the Constitutional Court over the ambulance tender from 2019, but it maintains that the Public Procurement Act was violated, UVO spokesperson Simona Brejova told TASR on Wednesday. "We respect the legal steps taken by the state-run VsZP. However, UVO maintains that the decision of its Council was lawful, which means that the audited entities breached the Public Procurement Act by awarding the contract in violation of EU regulations," said Brejova. VsZP earlier on Wednesday announced that it's filed a constitutional complaint against the actions and decisions of UVO and the UVO Council. It insists that both UVO and the UVO Council erred in both procedural and substantive matters when making decisions. In December 2025, the UVO Council rejected VsZP's appeal in proceedings concerning the 2019 tender for operating ambulances of the emergency medical service (EMS). The UVO Council also rejected an appeal by the Health-care Supervisory Office (UDZS). At that time, both UDZS and VsZP announced that they were planning to appeal to the Constitutional Court. ko/df
