SaS: Foreign Policy in All Cardinal Directions Also Has Economic Impacts

Bratislava, 18 February (TASR) - The foreign policy of the government, i.e. oriented in all four cardinal directions, hasn't only political but also economic implications, MP Juraj Krupa (Freedom and Solidarity/SaS) stated on Wednesday, pointing out that no foreign investment has come to Slovakia in more than two years of the current government's rule. The MP also criticised Foreign and European Affairs Minister Juraj Blanar (Smer-SD) for deciding to attend US President Donald Trump's Board of Peace meeting, even though he had previously said that he wouldn't do so. According to Krupa, Slovakia is becoming a servant of the USA under the leadership of Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD). He supported this, for example, by saying that after the recent visit by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to Slovakia, the government changed its mind and decided to participate in Trump's Board of Peace. "I think that this is another sign that this government is becoming incompetent, and membership could cost us roughly another billion. I'm asking how much this government's foreign policy adventures will cost us, because they could absolutely ruin us," he stressed. Krupa also criticised the fact that, after Rubio's visit, the government decided to buy more F-16 fighters from the Americans and that Slovakia will invest €15 billion in the construction of a new nuclear power plant in Slovakia, which, according to him, will bind Slovakia to the USA. Meanwhile, Krupa criticised Fico for engaging in anti-Slovak activities in line with Russian interests. He demonstrated this, for example, by pointing to Fico's approach to Ukraine, adding that a foreign policy oriented in all four cardinal directions is Fico's delusion, which has led to Slovakia's isolation. "No one in the world trusts the Slovak leadership any more, except perhaps [Hungarian Premier] Viktor Orban. We can see that the whole world has started to move elsewhere," said Krupa. am/df
