King of Roma Robert Botos Passes Away Aged 54

Kosice, 16 February (TASR) - King of the Roma Robert Botos died at the age of 54 in Kosice on Sunday (15 February), his friend and ex-MP Otto Brixi has confirmed for TASR. The Office of the Government Proxy for Roma Communities expressed regret and sorrow at the news on a social network. It was stated that Botos passed away on Sunday evening at the Eastern Slovak Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases after suffering a stroke on Friday (13 February). Botos was crowned as the new king of the Roma in Kosice on 12 April 2014. He saw his role mainly in unifying the Roma, in restoring the right values in Roma communities, and in cooperation with those who help the Roma. The coronation ceremony - the first ever of its kind in Slovakia - was attended by guests from both Slovakia and abroad. A golden crown was made especially for the occasion. ko/df
