Bratislava, 15 February (TASR) - The Slovak National Party (SNS) has called on Prime Minister Robert Fico and Parliamentary Vice-chair Tibor Gaspar (both Smer-SD) to focus on passing laws that help people, making the statement in response to the press conference held by Smer-SD representatives on Sunday, TASR has learnt from SNS chairman's office head Zuzana Skopcova. In its statement, the SNS noted that Smer-SD has controlled the Justice Ministry for two years, yet the prime minister and parliamentary vice-chair declare "every Sunday" that justice in Slovakia is in a poor state. "However, this is just repeated criticism of their own ministry and a statement that the ministry is not being managed as it should be. The prime minister has all the tools at his disposal to ensure that his nominee at the post of justice minister, Boris Susko, prepares a comprehensive reform of the Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure Code that Slovakia needs," said SNS, adding that it is incomprehensible why Smer-SD is organising press conferences on an issue that it can resolve by its own decision. Premier Fico told a press conference on Sunday in response to the decision of the Constitutional Court to suspend the effect of the amendment to the Penal Code concerning the inadmissibility of evidence from cooperating defendants that the most appropriate solution would be to amend the Penal Code and completely abolish the institution of the cooperating defendant, describing the institution as unreliable and absolutely unacceptable in its current form. am
