Bratislava, 15 February (TASR) – The risk of being sacked is a concern for 37 percent of employees in Slovakia, with the rate having risen significantly since 2024, when it amounted to less than a quarter of employees, according to a survey conducted by Focus agency for the profesia.sk jobs website in November 2025. One fifth of employees fear that they'll be fired in the near future even though they see no reason for this. This group has roughly doubled year-on-year. According to the survey, termination of employment by their employer is feared more by men (41 percent) than women (one third of the respondents). The level of uncertainty also varies among regions, with the highest rate seen in Presov, where almost half of the respondents feel this way. Nitra and Bratislava regions have the biggest proportion of people who aren't afraid of losing their jobs. Household income is another parameter affecting employees' concerns. In households with a net monthly income of up to €1,000, more than half of employees fear being sacked, compared to less than one third for households with an income above €2,600. The survey also mapped how respondents perceive the current situation on the labour market in terms of opportunities to land a different job, with only one quarter of respondents viewing the situation as favourable, the lowest level since the pandemic years. In 2018 and 2019, this indicator was at around 40 percent, while last year it stood at roughly one third. jrg/df/am
