Bratislava, 12 February (TASR) - In 2025, Leo Express transported nearly 2.9 million passengers on the Bratislava-Komarno (Nitra region) line, a year-on-year increase of 27.4 percent, said Leo Express spokesman Emil Sedlarik on Thursday, adding that the company has been operating trains between Bratislava and Komarno in the public interest on behalf of the state since the end of 2023.
The carrier transported a total of almost 4.6 million passengers in Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Poland last year, 19.2 percent more than in 2024.
"The number of passengers on the Bratislava-Komarno route has increased by more than a quarter. We've introduced reliable low-floor carriages with Wi-Fi and guaranteed air-conditioning, and we're constantly improving our services," said Leo Express CEO Peter Kohler. For example, the company is currently testing vending machines on trains and wants to use the experience from this route on other lines ordered by the state.
Transport on Leo Express commercial lines in Slovakia, operated by the carrier itself, increased by more than 10 percent last year. It will expand them as of 30 April with a new route between Prague and Bratislava, which will also stop in Bratislava's largest housing estate of Petrzalka. The new route will connect to the Bratislava-Komarno route, and the carrier will run low-floor, air-conditioned Talgo trains with Wi-Fi on it.
