President Pellegrini to Meet US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Sunday

Bratislava, 10 February (TASR) - Slovak President Peter Pellegrini will meet US Secretary of State Marco Rubio at the Presidential Palace on Sunday (15 February), the Slovak President's Office informed TASR on Tuesday. "The meeting will focus on current issues in bilateral relations between Slovakia and the USA, as well as selected issues in international affairs. More details about the agenda of the meeting will be provided at a later time," specified the office. Foreign and European Affairs Minister Juraj Blanar (Smer-SD) confirmed earlier that Rubio will arrive in Bratislava on Sunday at his invitation. "I'm delighted that my counterpart has accepted my invitation and will hold talks with the top representatives of the Slovak Republic to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Slovakia and the USA," said Blanar. US State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott announced on Monday (9 February) that Rubio will participate in the Munich Security Conference at the weekend before travelling to Bratislava to meet members of the Slovak government and discuss regional security, nuclear energy, NATO and the modernisation of Slovakia's military. jrg/df
