Bratislava, 10 February (TASR) - Slovakia's industrial output posted the deepest drop since December 2022, falling 8.5 percent year-on-year (y-o-y) in December 2025, with decreases seen in as many as ten months throughout 2025, the Statistics Office reported on Tuesday, adding that 11 of the 15 monitored branches of industry reported y-o-y drops in output in December.
After seasonal adjustments, industrial output shrank by 4.9 percent month-on-month (m-o-m).
One of the most significant impacts in December was produced by a nearly 26-percent decline in electricity and gas supply output. The top five sectors with the highest negative impact, seeing y-o-y drops of more than nine percent, included metal production and the production of machinery.
Among the sectors that hampered growth, the production of means of transport fell by almost 3 percent and output in rubber by more than 5 percent.
Conversely, only four branches of industry posted a higher output y-o-y, however, without any significant impact on the overall result.
