Sutaj Estok: Investigators Moving in Right Direction in Case of MOMs

(TA3,'V politike', 8 February) Investigators are moving in the right direction in the investigation of mobile testing facilities (MOMs) that operated during the COVID-19 pandemic, Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD) said on TA3's discussion programme 'V politike' (In Politics) on Sunday, adding that findings on how the money was misused there will be presented very soon. "There was a public demand for matters related to the pandemic and the donation of military equipment to be investigated. That's also why investigative teams were formed. In the case of the coronavirus pandemic, there are additional issues under investigation," said Sutaj Estok. At the same time, he doesn't view it as normal that the previous government donated military equipment, including the S-300 missile defence system and MiG-29 fighter jets, to Ukraine without having replacements for them. Opposition MP Michal Truban (Progressive Slovakia/PS), also on the show, thinks that the coalition has run up against reality after the prosecution service announced that the donation of equipment to Ukraine was lawful. "We are once again discussing a red herring that they keep bringing up, while all relevant institutions say there was no problem. We'll be going around in circles over whether something should or shouldn't have been donated to Ukraine for six more months," noted the MP. The case of alleged misuse of subsidies for the Central European Forum, an international event organised by NGO Project Forum, behind which is the PS leader's mother, Marta Simeckova, has nothing to the with the PS party, stated Truban. What matters to him is that she isn't hiding and is cooperating with the audit. "If there are any consequences, she will face them head-on," said Truban. The minister also commented on the declining support for the Voice-SD party. He pointed out that losing party leader Peter Pellegrini, who was a key figure, wasn't easy. Sutaj Estok explained that he convened an extended party presidium at the end of last year and was ready to convene a party congress as well. "We communicate openly in the party and I have gained trust," he said. ko
