Stats: Retail Revenues Down by 5 Percent in December 2025

Bratislava, 5 February (TASR) - Retail revenues in Slovakia fell by 5 percent year-on-year (y-o-y) in December, marking the worst monthly result of 2025 as six of the nine retail segments saw a y-o-y drop, the Statistics Office reported on Thursday. Seasonally adjusted, retail revenues in December remained at the level seen in November 2025. Revenues of e-shops, including mail-order shops (entities without outlets) saw a sharp decline of almost 15 percent, while hypermarkets and supermarkets fell by 2.5 percent. Revenues of hobby markets and outlets selling furniture and electronics (specialised household goods) declined by nearly 10 percent. In fixed prices, revenues increased y-o-y in the sale and repair of motor vehicles (up by 8.3 percent), as well as pubs and restaurants (0.9 percent). In current prices, wholesale saw a 10.4 percent increase as well. Conversely, revenues in accommodation fell by 5.6 percent in fixed prices. Seasonally adjusted, revenues were up on a monthly basis by 8.2 percent in the sale and repair of motor vehicles, by 4.8 percent in wholesale and by 2.9 percent in pubs and restaurants.
