Nove Mesto nad Vahom, 4 February (TASR) - The two pupils hit by an airsoft gun that was fired by another sixth-grade pupil during an incident at a primary school in Nove Mesto nad Vahom (Trencin region) on Wednesday suffered only minor superficial injuries requiring treatment at the scene only, Katarina Jarosincova, headteacher at St Joseph's Combined School in Nove Mesto nad Vahom, told a briefing on the same day. "Despite this, we called all the emergency services - police, paramedics, the legal aid centre and social services. We also have an intervention crisis team in place, and our school has two professionals in the field of crisis intervention. Our primary concern is the safety of our pupils," said Jarosincova. She noted that the pupil who fired the weapon is a problem student and has been dealt with long term in cooperation with the legal aid centre and social services. Jarosincova added that the injured classmates have no behavioural issues and thought that the weapon was a toy gun. According to her, the reason for the shooting isn't yet known. "Some parents came to collect their children from school, while some pupils remained. Crisis intervention support will be provided for classes in connection with the case," added Jarosincova, specifying that the case is being investigated and that the school will then take action. Emergency Medical Service Operations Centre spokesperson Martina Frohlich Cinovska said that two ambulances were dispatched to the scene, where two minors with open wounds to the thigh were treated on the spot. jrg/df
