Bratislava, 4 February (TASR) - President Peter Pellegrini will leave for Milan on Friday (6 February), where he'll attend the ceremonial opening of the Slovak and the Czech Olympic Houses alongside Czech President Petr Pavel, the Slovak President's Office has informed TASR. The Slovak president will also support Slovak athletes during the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, which will take place at the San Siro stadium. On Friday, Pellegrini will take part in the ceremonial opening of the Czech Olympic House along with Pavel. On Saturday (7 January), the two presidents will attend the ceremonial opening of the Slovak Olympic House - Casa Slovacca. The house will be located in the prestigious premises of the Galleria Meravigli in the centre of Milan. On this occasion, the Slovak president praised the efforts of Slovakia's honorary consul, thanks to whom Slovakia managed to obtain the venue. "Our honorary consul has truly achieved something magnificent, as the world's largest countries were competing for this space, but in the end he managed to obtain it for Slovakia," said the head of state. During the Winter Olympics, Casa Slovacca will seek to bring the atmosphere of Slovakia to the Italian city via sport, culture, gastronomy and regional presentations. It's hoped that the slogan of the Slovak Olympic team, 'We Stick Together', will be evident there. Meanwhile, the President's Office has commented on the Games' opening ceremony. "The ceremony will present a story of beauty, creativity and Italian identity. It will be titled 'Harmony', symbolising the connection between sport, culture and the values of the Olympic movement," it said. ko/df
