Bratislava, 4 February (TASR) - If the police find any leads linked to the affair of US sex-offender Jeffrey Epstein, they'll examine them, said Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD) ahead of Wednesday's cabinet session. "If the law-enforcement authorities find any matters that show signs that the law may have been breached or a criminal offence committed, they'll certainly address them," said Sutaj Estok. Meanwhile, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that he, the Polish justice minister and the minister responsible for coordinating the secret services have set up an analytical team to verify Polish links in the case. If suspicions are confirmed, the government isn't ruling out launching criminal proceedings and compensating the victims. The Polish government is also considering an international investigation. "We aren't ruling out calling on other partners so that the investigation into this matter will take on an international character," said Tusk. Jeffrey Epstein was an American financier and convicted sex offender known for his contacts with celebrities, politicians and billionaires. He committed suicide in a New York jail a month after his arrest in 2019. According to investigators, Epstein built an illegal network via which he organised meetings between wealthy and influential individuals and underage girls. Epstein himself is also alleged to have sexually abused young girls. mf/df
