Bratislava, 3 February (TASR) - Government Proxy for Investigation into COVID-19 Pandemic Management Peter K. [name abbreviated due to legal reasons] has announced that he'll file a complaint against the charges pressed against him, which he views as indisputably politically motivated. The proxy told a news conference on Tuesday that he's also asked Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) for the chance to present serious evidence that he claims has been kept hidden for a long time during Wednesday's (4 February) government session. He wants to present them to the public on Thursday (5 February). "I'm filing a complaint against the resolution bringing charges within the period set by law, and I'll subsequently substantiate it in writing within an appropriate timeframe. In order to be able to properly back this up in line with my constitutional right to defence, I've also asked for a date on which I'll be allowed to look at the case file. Anyway, I welcome this trial, as it will enable all, including new, evidence that couldn't be officially presented to date, to be submitted to the file," said the proxy. He believes that he'll be given a chance to speak and present the new findings at the government session on Wednesday. "I'll subsequently inform the public about this evidence," he added, noting that a press conference will take place at 3 p.m. on Thursday. At the same time, the proxy stressed that he won't let himself be intimidated. "I can assure the public that no exemplary political intimidation will take place, as I've been acting solely in the interests of public health and the citizens of Slovakia," he said. Government Proxy for Investigation into COVID-19 Pandemic Management Peter K. confirmed on Sunday (1 February) that charges have been pressed against him. Opposition MP Tomas Szalay (Freedom and Solidarity/SaS), who filed a criminal complaint against Peter K. along with his party colleagues, posted on a social network that Peter K. has been charged with the criminal offence of spreading a false alarm. SaS MPs filed a criminal complaint against Peter K. in March 2025 over to his statements questioning the safety and effectiveness of mRNA vaccines. They also included several scientific studies and analyses to refute the government proxy's claims. Bratislava Region Prosecutor's Office confirmed in October of last year that a criminal investigation into Peter K.'s statements had been initiated, and the police said in January that proceedings were still pending. ko/df
