Bratislava, 1 February (TASR) - Government Proxy for Investigation into COVID-19 Pandemic Management Peter K. [name abbreviated due to legal reasons] confirmed for TASR on Sunday that he has been charged with the criminal offence of spreading a false alarm, adding that he has already received a decision to that effect. "I received it on Friday (30 January) and I will take a stance next week," he said. The information that Peter K. has been charged with the offence of spreading a false alarm was published on a social network by opposition Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) MP Tomas Szalay after being notified by a police investigator as one of MPs who filed a criminal complaint against Peter K. last year. According to Bratislava Region Police Directorate spokesperson Katarina Bartosova, the criminal prosecution for the criminal offence of spreading a false alarm is pending. "As the investigation has not yet been completed, and in order to maintain its objectivity and to prevent it from being obstructed, no further information can be provided at this time," she said. SaS MPs filed a criminal complaint against Peter K. in March 2025 due to his statements questioning the safety and effectiveness of mRNA vaccines. They also included several scientific studies and analyses to refute the government proxy's claims. In October of last year, the Bratislava Regional Prosecutor's Office confirmed that criminal prosecution for Peter K.'s statements had been initiated and, this year in January, the police said that the proceedings were still pending. Last year, Peter K. stated that the results from analysing the batches of mRNA vaccines used against COVID-19 in the Slovak population showed that all tested batches are capable of altering human DNA, which he claimed may lead to the development of several serious diseases. jrg
