PS Wants to Help Sole Traders by Introducing Micro Entrepreneurship

Bratislava, 28 January (TASR) - Opposition Progressive Slovakia (PS) vice-chair Michal Truban on Wednesday presented a proposal to introduce 'micro entrepreneurship' as a measure to help small sole traders, who face rising costs and payroll taxes, suggesting that for up to a certain turnover threshold, such as 60 percent of 12 times a monthly income, some €6,000 would be taxed at a flat rate of 3 percent.
"Nothing extra, everything is automatic, no tax return to be submitted, no bureaucracy. This is how entrepreneurs will learn to do business simply and efficiently, and even to pay small tax amounts that won't destroy them," said Truban.
According to him, the government should immediately come up with measures to kick-start the economy and improve conditions for doing business, at the same time changing the existing draconian measures for entrepreneurs and sole traders so that they can survive.
"In addition, we have a number of measures that can help restart our economy. We have also submitted them in the form of bills during parliamentary sessions, such as laws to improve investment in companies, depreciation and investment in research, development and innovation," said Truban, adding that PS has ideas and knows how to improve the rate at which EU funds are drawn.
"Abolishing the transaction tax isn't even up for debate. We'd do that at the very first moment if we could," he added.
