Bratislava, 27 January (TASR) – Independent MP Rastislav Kratky, formerly of the 'Slovakia'-'For the People' caucus, will join the parliamentary caucus of the Christian Democrats (KDH), according to KDH chairman Milan Majersky, who spoke about this at a press conference in Parliament on Tuesday.
Kratky was expelled from the opposition 'Slovakia'-'For the People' caucus after voting in favour of the government's amendment to the Constitution in the autumn of 2025, despite having previously announced that he wouldn't do so.
Although he isn't joining KDH as a member yet, Kratky will assist the caucus in drawing up KDH's economic and social programme. With Kratky on board, KDH's caucus will now consist of 12 members.
"Partly thanks to cooperating with MP Kratky, I am convinced that KDH will present the best economic and social programme for Slovakia," said Majersky.
With his background in management and business posts, Kratky sees this move as a natural step in his political career.
"I've always identified myself with Christian politics, and I have remained faithful to that. Therefore, my future political work is naturally linked with KDH. As I see it, the future of healthy politics is with KDH, which has real answers to today's difficult times," stated Kratky, adding that, for the time being, he's not joining KDH as a member.
"There's still time for that; we'll see how the cooperation goes," added Kratky, who confirmed that his primary goal is to help to develop "the best economic and social programme".
