KBS: Secretary for Relations with States of Holy See Gallagher to Visit Slovakia

Bratislava, 27 January (TASR) - Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States of the Holy See, will pay an official visit to Slovakia from Friday (30 January) to Sunday (1 February) at the invitation of Slovak Foreign Affairs Minister Juraj Blanar (Smer-SD), the press office of the Slovak Bishops Conference (KBS) has informed TASR. Gallagher will visit Slovakia on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the basic treaty between Slovakia and the Holy See that came into effect in 2001. According to KBS, his visit isn't only a reminder of this historic milestone, but also an impetus for further dialogue between the Church, state and society in Slovakia. The agenda of the visit includes official meetings with state officials and bishops - KBS members, as well as spiritual events, including the celebration of a Holy Mass. An important part of Gallagher's visit will be his participation in an international professional symposium due to take place at Comenius University in Bratislava on Saturday (31 January). It's being organised to mark the anniversary of the entry into force of the treaty and will create space for reflection on its significance, relevance and challenges for the future. ko/df
