Bratislava, 26 January (TASR) - Experts from the Foreign and European Affairs Ministry are assessing both the opportunities and risks of the invitation to join the Board of Peace, Slovakia's chief diplomat Juraj Blanar (Smer-SD) stated on Monday.
Blanar claims that since Tuesday (20 January), the ministry has been in contact with the President's Office, Parliament, and the government. "I'll inform the government, the President's Office, and the leadership of Parliament about the outcome," he stated.
The minister also said that the government headed by Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) supports all peace activities, but also emphasises the need to respect international law and considers the constitutional dimension of this issue.
Foreign Minister Blanar said on Saturday (24 January) that Slovakia received an offer to join the Board of Peace of US President Donald Trump. President Peter Pellegrini requested from the Foreign and European Affairs Ministry an analysis of documents related to Slovakia's invitation to join the Board of Peace. He pointed out that if Slovakia were to consider joining this initiative, its representatives must have complete and accurate information at their disposal.
