SIAF Air Show to Take Place in Kosice on 5-6 September

Kosice, 23 January (TASR) - The SIAF International Aviation Days 2026 will take place at Kosice Airport on 5-6 September, SIAF organisers announced on Friday, adding that the central theme of the event, whose main partner is Kosice self-governing region, is the 35th anniversary of the founding of the White Albatrosses aerobatic team. SIAF will take place after a two-year hiatus. The SIAF International Air Show, with a European reach, is awaiting its 14th year in the east of the country, and will be held in Kosice for the first time. Kosice region will support the event through the Terra Incognita programme with an amount of €100,000. Kosice region head Rastislav Trnka reported that he had sent invitations to aviation teams from 14 countries, including Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, and the USA. He received the ambassadors of the selected countries on Friday at the Kosice Region Office. "It is no coincidence that the biggest aviation event in Slovakia is coming to Kosice region, to the city of Kosice. We aren't starting a new story, on the contrary - we're continuing traditions that are inextricably linked to our region. From the first biplanes through the era of training elite pilots and the formation of the legendary White Albatrosses to innovations in technology," said Trnka, adding that the event will be open to cooperation with other entities. Invitations were also sent to domestic entities, including the Defence Ministry - the Air Force of the Slovak Armed Forces, the Interior Ministry - the Aviation Unit, the Fire and Rescue Corps (HaZZ), the Police Corps, and other units of the integrated rescue system. am
