Police Charge 66-year-old Man as Part of 'Florist' Anti-drugs Operation

Bratislava, 23 January (TASR) - The police have charged a 66-year-old man with the crime of illegally producing and trafficking narcotic and psychotropic substances as part of an anti-drugs operation codenamed 'Florist', Police Corps Presidium (PPZ) spokesperson Lea Vilhanova informed TASR on Friday. Members of the PPZ National Anti-drug Unit uncovered a large drugs laboratory during their raid in the town of Pezinok (Bratislava region) on Thursday (22 January). They seized nearly 20 kilograms of dried marijuana with THC content, said Vilhanova. "An investigator of the PPZ National Anti-Drugs Unit on Friday filed charges against a 66-year-old man for the particularly serious crime of illegally producing and trafficking narcotic and psychotropic substances," stated Vilhanova. During the operation, the police searched the suspect's house, as well as several other premises and plots of land. "In total, nearly 20 kilograms of dried marijuana with THC content worth at least €85,000 were seized, which corresponds to at least 8,560 single doses of the drug. In addition, nearly 300 cannabis plants were seized, along with other equipment and technology used for cultivating and processing them," specified the spokesperson. ko/df
