Bratislava, 21 January (TASR) - Civic association Post Bellum disagrees with partial results of a government audit carried out in November and December of last year when the audit team has identified six shortcomings in the use of public funds during 2022, Post Bellum head Sandra Polovkova told TASR on Wednesday, adding that her association is now required to return €38,280 due to an alleged breach of financial discipline.
The government audit was initiated on the basis of an authorisation issued on 17 November last year.
"We reject this partial result of the government audit and we're ready to turn to the courts in case we have to return the funds from projects that were properly implemented, accounted for, checked by the relevant ministries and completed," said Polovkova.
Post Bellum does not understand why a document submitted to the government's session on Wednesday specifies three financial shortcomings totalling €53,638, when all audit documents received by the association indicate an amount of €38,280.
Polovkova described claims that Post Bellum requested support for the same project from two different public institutions as absurd. According to her, the audit team didn't take into account or accept their objections at all, even though they explained that these were two different projects in terms of budget, implementation period or the number of educational events organised.
Post Bellum respects the right to audit the proper use of public funds, which is why the association cooperated with the audit team to the maximum extent possible, providing the required documents, information and explanations.
As some conclusions didn't reflect all the relevant facts and available evidence, Polovkova said that on January 12 this year, Post Bellum submitted their objections to the draft partial report from the government audit, dated 19 December 2025.
