Bratislava, 20 January (TASR) - Financial Administration (FS) evacuated and, in cooperation with the police, carried out a bomb-disposal inspection not only in its building on Mierova Street in Bratislava but also in 97 other buildings throughout Slovakia on Tuesday morning. The buildings were checked after an unknown person sent an email with a bomb threat, while also making threats against FS president Jozef Kiss and his family. The police searched the premises with negative results, FS spokesman Daniel Kovac has informed TASR. "In connection with the threat reported, it was necessary to carry out visual inspections and checks on the premises of FS buildings, where no 24-hour protection of premises by a security service is provided. Individual workplaces were also asked for feedback on the inspections carried out and to report any suspicions," said Kovac, adding that no suspect objects or circumstances confirming the threat were found during the inspection. "The emails may be related to yesterday's manipulative and unbalanced reports by some media outlets, as well as to the purpose-made statements made by politicians regarding the detention of Zuzana Subova and search of her house. These could have created the false impression that the FS president is responsible for the action taken by law-enforcement authorities," stated Kovac. In this connection, FS president Jozef Kiss called on the media and politicians not to spread unverified and untrue information that may contribute to an escalation of tension in society and not to misuse the media space for self-presentation. "Jozef Kiss and his family have been facing similar attacks and threats for a long time. These threats are being investigated by law-enforcement authorities, whose work the FS president trusts," added Kovac. Zuzana Subova, chair of the extra-parliamentary Pirate Party-Slovakia earlier on Tuesday denied sending anonymous messages to FS president and former head of the Agricultural Payment Agency (PPA) Jozef Kiss. The police raid on her home on Monday (19 January) was allegedly related to suspicions that she had committed the crime of dangerous stalking. However, Subova claims that the only reason for the search was to find out what documents related to PPA's activities were available to her, adding that documents related to criminal complaints that she had filed were also sought. Subova called this intimidation. The Police Corps Presidium has stated that the Office for Combating Organised Crime (UBOK) is conducting criminal proceedings in connection with the suspicion that the crime of dangerous stalking based on a criminal complaint filed on 10 November 2023 has been committed. ko/df
