ARDAL: Slovakia Borrows €539 mn in First Government Bond Auction in 2026

Bratislava, 19 January (TASR) - Slovakia sold government bonds worth €539 million in the first auction of this year, with average yield ranging between 2.3 percent p.a. and 4.1 percent p.a., while total demand from investors reached €1.241 billion, the Debt and Liquidity Management Agency (ARDAL) announced on Monday. The highest volume (€167 million) came from bonds maturing in 2031, with the average accepted yield reaching 2.87 percent p.a. Furthermore, bonds maturing in 2028 brought in €147 million, while the average yield was the lowest, at 2.26 percent p.a. Conversely, the highest average yield of 4.07 percent was accepted by the state for the longest maturity bonds due in 2043. However, their volume was the lowest, reaching €83 million. Bonds maturing in 2037 with a yield of 3.75 percent p.a. brought in €142 million. In the previous (November) auction, which was the last to be held last year, Slovakia sold government bonds worth €433 million at a similar average yield ranging between 2.3 percent p.a. and 4.2 percent p.a., with total demand from investors reaching €758 million at that time. This year, ARDAL plans to issue new bonds totalling €10 billion. In addition to regular monthly auctions, it plans to open two new bond lines via syndicated sale and two bond lines for ordinary citizens. jrg/mcs
