Bratislava, 17 January (TASR) - Passengers have the opportunity to make use of four new regular routes from M.R. Stefanik Airport in Bratislava as of this week, according to information published on the airport's website. A new air connection to Kutaisi, Georgia was launched on Monday (12 January) morning, followed by flights to Chişinau, the capital of Moldova, on Monday afternoon, and to Larnaca in Cyprus on Monday evening. The fourth one, a regular link to the Armenian capital Yerevan, was launched on Tuesday (13 January). All these new routes will be operated by Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air, which is thereby continuing the third stage of expanding its activities from its base at Bratislava airport. With these four routes included, the airline will now offer flights from Bratislava to 20 destinations in total. Most of them have been added gradually since the Bratislava base opened on 14 November 2025. The airline uses Airbus A321neo planes with a capacity of 239 seats. Bratislava airport now offers a total of 45 regular flights to 37 destinations in 22 countries. Ryanair currently operates 21 routes from Bratislava, having resumed flights to Trapani in Sicily. With 20 routes served, Wizz Air is just behind Ryanair for the time being. The remaining four routes are served by Air Cairo to Hurghada and Marsa Alam, Smartwings to Dubai, and Pegasus Airlines to Istanbul. Both of the two main airlines operating at the country's biggest airport, Ryanair and Wizz Air, fly to these eight destinations — London, Barcelona, Alicante, Malaga, Athens, Naples, Lamezia Terme and Palermo. As of March, Rome, Tirana and Warsaw will also be served by both airlines. In March, Wizz Air will add a further nine regular routes from Bratislava airport to Berlin, Dortmund, Rome (Fiumicino Airport), Tirana, Ohrid, Pristina, Tel Aviv, Warsaw (Chopin Airport) and Tuzla in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In June, it will also launch a seasonal summer route to the Greek island of Mykonos. Wizz Air will thus operate a total of 30 regular routes from the Slovak capital. In the summer flight schedule Ryanair will operate a record 33 regular routes from Bratislava. In addition to the seven routes that it has offered since last autumn (to Alicante, Athens, Barcelona, Lamezia Terme, Malaga, Naples and Palermo), it will also fly to Pisa, Tirana and Warsaw (Modlin Airport). ko/df
