Bratislava, 13 January (TASR) - Slovakia's construction output surpassed the €900-million mark for the first time in November 2025, reaching €907.5 million, up 2.4 percent year-on-year (y-o-y) in fixed prices, the Statistics Office reported on Tuesday, adding that the rate of growth slowed down significantly at the end of autumn and was the second lowest in 2025, however.
Seasonally adjusted, construction output rose by 3.5 percent from October 2025.
The slowdown in overall y-o-y growth was caused by a 2.3-percent decline in domestic new construction. Conversely, repairs and maintenance construction work increased by as much as 8.5 percent y-o-y, but this only partially offset the decline in new construction, as this segment accounts for only a quarter of total construction output.
As for the type of construction, the dominant construction of buildings saw a 3.5-percent drop y-o-y when adjusted for inflation, while work on civil-engineering structures, including highways, rose only slightly, by 0.6 percent.
The output of Slovak construction firms abroad was nearly one-third higher y-o-y in November 2025, sustaining a positive trend seen continuously since October 2024.
In the first eleven months of last year, construction output reached €7.5 billion, up 6.5 percent y-o-y. This was mainly due to a more than 4-percent increase in domestic new construction, as well as in repairs and maintenance work. Construction work carried out by Slovak firms abroad rose by nearly 28 percent.
