Profesia.sk: Job Vacancies Down 16 percent in 2025, Demand Hitting Record Highs

Bratislava, 11 January (TASR) - Employers posted 249,136 job advertisements on the Profesia.sk job website in 2025, down by 16 percent year-on-year, with demand from jobseekers hitting record levels, Lubica Melcerova, PR manager at Alma Career, the company that operates the site, reported earlier this week, adding that the average salary in job postings rose by €104 to €1,594 per month.
In the final quarter of 2025, the average salary hit the €1,659-per-month mark.
"The average number of responses per vacancy was 29, reaching a high of 34 in November. Jobs in administration, translation and journalism were the most popular among applicants, while electrical engineering, telecommunications and health care saw the least interest," added Melcerova.
The highest number of job offers was recorded in retail (over 50,000), followed by manufacturing (nearly 32,000) and transport (25,500). Employers most frequently sought shop assistants, administrative workers, production operators, sales specialists, cashiers, warehouse workers and sales representatives.
In terms of regions, the highest number of vacancies was placed in Bratislava region (over 88,000), although the figure dropped by 17 percent y-o-y. Vacancies fell by one-tenth in Banska Bystrica and Presov regions.
Profesia.sk saw a 25-percent decline in advertisements related to mining, the textile industry and insurance. Conversely, wood processing and the translation/interpreting sectors saw a 4-percent rise.
The highest average salary offered was for executive posts (nearly €2,600), with the IT sector promising roughly €200 less. The lowest salaries were seen in the textile industry, with an average just slightly above €1,000.
As regards specific jobs, the highest average salaries were offered to psychiatrists (€4,500), CEOs (nearly €4,100) and IT directors (€4,000). Conversely, job offers for shoemakers, cleaners, porters and librarians failed to reach €1,000 on average.
