SHMU: Severe Frost Warnings Issued for Parts of Slovakia

Bratislava, 8 January (TASR) - Several districts of Slovakia are expected to face very low temperatures overnight on Thursday, with readings dropping to as low as minus 24 degrees Celsius, prompting the Slovak Hydrometeorological Office (SHMU) to issue warnings, while also cautioning against snow drifts.
A second-degree warning for low temperatures applies to the entire Banska Bystrica and Zilina regions, as well as the districts of Povazska Bystrica, Prievidza, Gelnica, Roznava, Spisska Nova Ves, Levice, Kezmarok, Levoca, Poprad, Presov, Sabinov and Stara Lubovna.
First-degree warnings are in force for the remaining districts of the Trencin, Kosice, Nitra and Presov regions, as well as the districts of Hlohovec and Piestany.
The warnings are in effect from Thursday 10.00 p.m. until Friday morning (9 January).
