Bratislava, 5 January (TASR) - The Foreign Affairs Ministry is ready to provide consular assistance and services during the winter holiday season, whether for trips to European destinations or holidays in exotic countries, TASR has learnt from the ministry's communications department, according to which Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar (Smer-SD) is urging people not to underestimate crises that may occur during the winter period.
"Before travelling, we recommend thoroughly checking the conditions for entering and staying in the destination country. This information is always kept up-to-date and verified on our website," stated Blanar.
Holidaymakers can register for free on the ministry's website i.mzv.sk/registracia in order to be contacted immediately if an unexpected situation arises in the country in which they are staying. Also available is the so-called Svetobezka (Globetrotter) app, which provides important information such as contact details for Slovak embassies and other practical advice and recommendations.
In the case of acute need, Slovaks can contact the ministry's International Crisis Centre 24 hours a day from all time zones across the world by calling +421 2 5978 5978.
Slovakia also maintains a network of 74 consular offices abroad ready to assist its nationals in emergencies.
