Spisska Stara Ves/Presov, 31 December (TASR) - The Regional Prosecutor's Office in Presov has accepted a proposal to bring charges against a student who, according to the police, committed a knife attack in the town of Spisska Stara Ves (Presov region), and will decide on further proceedings, TASR was told by spokesperson for the regional prosecutor's office Stanislava Sincakova on Wednesday.
On Tuesday (30 December), the police announced that they had concluded their investigation into the January attack at a grammar school, in which two women lost their lives.
A police investigator proposed to bring charges against the attacker, who was an 18-year-old student.
The victims of the knife attack that took place on 16 January 2025 were two women aged 18 and 51, a student and the school's deputy headteacher. Another student was injured. The police charged the suspect, at that time an 18-year-old student with premeditated murder. He is detained in custody by a court's decision.
The Prosecutor-General's Office informed in June that it had found several shortcomings in connection with the tragic knife attack. Errors were noted during the transfer of the attacker between schools, and they occurred at both grammar schools. The Prosecutor-General's Office also detected irregularities in the procedures of the labour, social affairs and family offices.
