Police Handled 1,807 Incidents Across Slovakia on Christmas Eve

Bratislava, 25 December (TASR) - Police handled a total of 1,807 incidents across Slovakia during Christmas Eve, with operations centres receiving 1,446 phone calls to the emergency line 158, Police Corps Presidium spokesman Roman Hajek has informed TASR.
"Most often, these were incidents related to civil coexistence (186 cases), followed by actions prompted by public order disturbance (95 cases)," stated Hajek. In 66 cases police officers assisted to other forces or citizens, while they dealt with 65 cases of damage incidents and 61 road traffic incidents.
In Presov region, police intervened, for example, in the case of a driver under the influence of alcohol. In Banska Bystrica region, they were called to a traffic accident at a bus station, in which a pedestrian was injured. In Kosice region, police handled several traffic incidents, some involving alcohol or other addictive substances.
"In Trnava region, police officers dealt with a dangerous incident in which a man threatened people with a weapon. They managed to resolve the incident without any injuries. In Trencin region, Christmas Eve was marked by a tragic road accident with fatal consequences," said Hajek.
In Zilina region, police tracked down and detained a woman suspected of a violent crime. In Nitra region, they dealt with damage to property and were also called to protect an ambulance crew from an injured man’s aggressive behaviour. In Bratislava region, they responded to a public disturbance in the city centre.
