'Slovakia' Launches Survey on Statutes of Limitation on Murder and Corruption

Bratislava, 17 December (TASR) - The opposition Slovakia party on Wednesday published another question that people can vote on at Prevrat2027.sk, asking them whether they agree with abolishing statutes of limitation for murder, rape, corruption and the abuse of minors.
The party proposes that such crimes should never be time-barred.
"So that perpetrators of these four serious crimes will live in fear until the end of their days that someone will uncover them and they will go to prison, where they'll receive a just punishment. That is fair," declared party leader Igor Matovic.
Matovic also presented the results of a survey on the previous question, which concerned a proposal that MPs and ministers should be subject to the same obligation to undergo alcohol and drug testing as ordinary employees. According to the results of a survey conducted by SCIO agency on behalf of the party between 10-14 November, 98 percent of the respondents were in favour of this.
"So far this is the question with the highest level of support of all. The previous ones also had strong backing, but with this one it was close to 100 percent, both in the survey and in voting on our website. People want to see politicians who aren't drunk when deciding on their fates," said Matovic.
The 'Slovakia' party presents one question each month. It's doing so also in the context of a statement by Michal Simecka, leader of the strongest opposition party, Progressive Slovakia, who has ruled out cooperation with the 'Slovakia' party. Matovic stressed that his party is ready to cooperate but that the conditions for cooperation will be determined by people through a poll.
Matovic also said that the first ten of a total of 25 questions have been prepared. He announced that in January the party will organise discussions with the public, listen to their problems, identify the biggest ones and, based on these, present solutions.
