Majersky: We're Nearing Finals in Debates on MP Kratky Joining KDH Caucus

Bratislava, 11 December (TASR) - Talks concerning MP Rastislav Kratky (Independent) joining the opposition Christian Democrats (KDH) caucus are nearing their final stage, KDH leader and MP Milan Majersky has said in an end-of-year interview for TASR.
"We're advancing in discussions with MP Kratky. We'll present the next steps soon. The debate has progressed, we're approaching the finals. I don't want us to get ahead of ourselves, but we'll hold a joint press conference in the next few days at which I hope we'll be able to present him," said Majersky.
When asked by TASR whether another Independent MP Richard Vasecka might join the KDH caucus, Majersky pointed to a more complicated situation, as Vasecka is a member of another political party, the Christian Union (KU). However, Majersky spoke about mutual cooperation and action. At the same time, he emphasised that the Christian Democrats are able to lend a helping hand, as the situation faced by Independent MPs in Parliament isn't easy. "They acted in a responsible manner when voting on the amendment to the Constitution, not denying their convictions, as they knew that it was a good thing," he said.
Meanwhile, Majersky denied that the KDH caucus is in negotiations on cooperation with MP Jan Ferencak (Voce-SD), who announced that if he were to be dismissed as head of the parliamentary European affairs committee, he would quit the Voice-SD caucus. "This is something completely different. MP Ferencak was a part of the governing coalition, approving all the things we criticised," argued Majersky. He assumes that other opposition parties wouldn't grant him a "general pardon", either.
