Bratislava, 10 December (TASR) - House Chair Richard Rasi (Voice-SD) scheduled an extraordinary parliamentary session for Friday (12 December) from 9.00 a.m. based on a proposal submitted by opposition MPs who want to debate a draft parliamentary resolution concerning the failure of Economy Minister Denisa Sakova (Voice-SD) in connection with targeted energy assistance.
Opposition 'Slovakia' party MPs announced on Wednesday that, with support from other opposition parties, they had collected signatures from more than 30 MPs, as required for convening an extraordinary parliamentary session. In this case, the House chair is obliged to convene the session within seven days, but since the opposition does not hold a majority in Parliament, the agenda of the session may not necessarily be approved, or Parliament might not be quorate.
According to 'Slovakia' MP and House financial committee member Julius Jakab, his party doesn't expect the coalition to allow the session to open. Nonetheless, he considers that it's the opposition's duty to point out problems.
"We call on the government to adjust the entire energy assistance, and, in our view, to come up with a totally new solution," he said, advising the coalition to not try to repair what can't be fixed.
