Bratislava, 7 December (TASR) - Starting with the new 2025/2026 timetable, a modern ComfortJet train will begin operating on the Prague-Bratislava-Budapest route, national passenger rail carrier ZSSK reported this week. The train will offer passengers greater comfort with a capacity of 555 seats, including 99 in first class and another 18 in the restaurant carriage. "It reaches a maximum speed of up to 230 kilometres per hour (kmph) and excels in quiet travel, accessibility and interconnected spaces that allow for comfortable movement throughout the train. In Slovakia the train will travel at a maximum speed of 140 kmph, and in the Czech Republic it will travel at a maximum speed of 160 kmph, which corresponds to the current capabilities of the rail networks in the two countries," said the company. Passengers will find a children's cinema, a nappy-changing table, space for 12 bicycles and larger luggage items, an information and entertainment website, wireless mobile phone chargers and ergonomic seats in first class, plus a wireless Wi-Fi network, special windows that allow mobile signals to pass through, barrier-free access and spaces for people in wheelchairs. ZSSK vice-chairman of the Board of Directors and director of strategy and EU funds Rastislav Glasa said that the company wants to use similar modern trains on the line between Kosice and Bratislava in the future. am/df
