Bratislava, December 3 (TASR) - The construction of 4,188 flats was completed in Slovakia in the third quarter of this year, which was roughly the same figure as a year ago, the Statistics Office reported on Wednesday.
Although the year-on-year (y-o-y) drop in the number of new flats was negligible, just 1.5 percent, the number of apartments completed in the third quarter of 2025 was the lowest in a third quarter since 2018.
The number of completed apartments was 6 percent lower than the long-term average for third quarters in the past ten years.
The construction of 4,270 new flats was launched during the third quarter of 2025, up by one third from the year before. However, this rapid y-o-y growth was only a consequence of a very low comparison base in 3Q24, which saw one of the weakest-ever third quarters in terms of launching housing construction.
At the end of September 2025, over 77,000 flats were under construction in Slovakia, which was a decrease of 1.4 percent y-o-y. The figure for flats under construction is currently at the same level as the long-term average, having increased only slightly.
A total of 11,015 new apartments were completed in Slovakia in the first three quarters of 2025, down by 13.5 percent y-o-y and 13.1 percent below the long-term average. The construction of 11,511 new flats was launched in the monitored period, which was 1.6 percent fewer than the year before and 22.1 percent below the long-term average.
