Strba: ZSR Employee Killed While Inspecting Tracks

Strba, 1 December (TASR) - A track inspector of rail network operator ZSR was killed in an accident while carrying out a regular inspection of railway tracks in Strba (Presov region) on Monday, the ZSR communications and marketing department told TASR on the same day. "At a time when two trains were passing through this double-track section, there was an unfortunate and extremely tragic situation in which our employee, trying to avoid one passing train, encroached onto another track and was hit by an express train, thus resulting in a fatal occupational accident," stated the communications and marketing department. As the employer, ZSR conveyed its sincere condolences to the track inspector's family. "We're also working closely with the relevant authorities to clarify all the circumstances of the incident, and we're doing everything we can to ensure that the tragedy is thoroughly investigated," according to the communications and marketing department. jrg/df
