Financial Administration Detains 29 People as Part of Operation Sarisan

Presov, 26 November (TASR) - The Criminal Office of Financial Administration (KUFS) is currently conducting an operation in eastern Slovakia codenamed Sarisan, head of the communications department of the Financial Directorate Lucia Verchovodkova reported on Wednesday, adding that the operation concerns the largest illegal cigarette production facility ever discovered in Slovakia. "This operation is one of the largest cases in history, both in terms of the number of people detained, which is 29, and the amount of lost excise tax. As the operation is currently ongoing, we'll provide more detailed information after the procedural steps have been completed," said Verchovodkova. am/df
