Bratislava, 13 November (TASR) - Juraj C. [name abbreviated due to legal reasons], who shot Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) in Handlova (Trencin region) on 15 May of last year, has appealed against the verdict of the Specialised Criminal Court (STS), which sent him to prison for 21 years, STS has confirmed for TASR.
"Once the court receives returns of the service receipts from all parties to the proceedings, it will submit the file to the Supreme Court for appeal proceedings," said Maria Horakova of STS.
STS found Juraj C. guilty of committing an act of terrorism and sentenced him to 21 years in prison. The defendant shot Premier Fico five times during the away-from-home government session in Handlova last May, causing multiple injuries.
