Bratislava, 15 October (TASR) - Members of the Slovak and Ukrainian governments are scheduled to hold joint talks on the premises of the old city hall in Kosice on Friday (17 October), TASR was told by the Government Office's press and information department on Wednesday.
It will be another bilateral consultation between the Slovakia and Ukraine at governmental level.
"Joint negotiations between the Slovak and Ukrainian governments are bringing good results," stated Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD), praising the constructive dialogue with previous Ukrainian premier Denys Shmyhal and the fact that during his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in September he was able to establish a dialogue with the current prime minister of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko.
A number of bilateral consultations are planned in Kosice, including a meeting of foreign ministers, a ministerial meeting on cross-border cooperation and transport links, and cooperation in the field of energy. The two sides are also set to focus on the defence industry, Ukraine's reconstruction, EU integration and the agricultural and education sectors. A bilateral meeting of the prime ministers of the two countries is also due to be held.
Members of the Slovak and Ukrainian governments met in Michalovce (Kosice region) in April 2024, and bilateral consultations were also held on the Ukrainian side of the border near Uzhhorod.
