Taraba Announces €33 Million Wastewater Treatment Investment in Central Slovakia

Nova Bana, 3 October (TASR) - Environment Minister Tomas Taraba (a Slovak National Party/SNS nominee) announced a €33 million investment in wastewater treatment and sewerage infrastructure in central Slovakia, TASR learnt from Taraba's press conference in Nova Bana (Banska Bystrica region) on Friday. Almost 50 kilometres of sewer pipelines will be built to connect more than 5,500 residents to the public sewer system. Applications for subsidies were submitted to the ministry by the Central Slovak Water Management Company (STVS) for three projects in the municipalities of Nova Bana - Brehy, Hlinik nad Hronom - Dolna Zdana and Diviaky nad Nitricou - Diviacka Nova Ves and Diviaky nad Nitricou. According to STVS general director Vladimir Svrbicky, the projects will allow for safe disposal of wastewater and its treatment in newly built or upgraded wastewater treatment plants. From the Slovakia Programme, the ministry has allocated more than €21 million to build over 32 kilometres of pipelines and a new waste water treatment plant for Diviacka Nova Ves a Diviaky nad Nitricou. By the end of April 2029, almost 3,600 residents will be connected to the sewerage system. For Nova Bana - Brehy, more than €7.6 million is earmarked for 11.6 kilometres of sewer pipelines to connect 1,283 residents to the local wastewater treatment plant by August 2028. With an investment of nearly €5 million in Dolna Zdana, more than five kilometres of sewerage network will be built or upgraded by mid-2029, along with a new waste water treatment plant for all 638 residents. jrg
