Vysoke Tatry, 3 October (TASR) - European leaders will meet at the GLOBSEC Tatra Summit 2025 in Strbske Pleso in the High Tatras from Friday to Sunday (3-5 October) to discuss the issues of the EU's competitiveness, digital infrastructure and energy security, Henrieta Kunova from the GLOBSEC organising committee informed on Friday.
"This prestigious annual gathering brings together leaders from politics and the private sector, as well as European leaders and experts in investment, digital transformation and energy security," noted Kunova, adding that the summit comes at a crucial moment, as Europe faces mounting pressure to deliver on its ambitious economic and political goals.
Among those attending are European Investment Fund Chief Executive Marjut Falkstedt, OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann and other prominent figures from the public and private sectors.
GLOBSEC president and founder Robert Vass said that against the backdrop of geopolitical tensions, fragmented trade markets and the urgent need to modernise industry, the summit will focus on finding concrete and feasible solutions.
"Mario Draghi's report has sent Europe a grim warning that it is lagging behind the United States and China, and if it wants to restore its competitiveness, it must move from words to action. This is a critical moment for Europe," he warned.
The summit will focus in particular on industrial policy and competitiveness, Europe's energy strategy, capital markets and financial stability, as well as digitalisation, artificial intelligence and innovation. The participants will also discuss investments in defence and security.
"The European Commission has come up with the so-called competitiveness compass as a roadmap for these essential steps. This year's Tatra Summit will be a place to assess whether Europe is on the right path," added GLOBSEC CEO Daniel Braun. The summit's dynamic format allows for both formal and informal discussions on political issues.
