Police Investigating Disappearance of Journalist Pavol Rypal

Bratislava, 7 August (TASR) - The Office for Combating Organised Crime (UBOK) is dealing with the case of investigative journalist Pavel Rypal's disappearance, the Police Corps Presidium spokesman Roman Hajek confirmed for TASR on Thursday. According to the pluska.sk website, a man who allegedly knows the details of the case has made statements in Hungary, and, by his account, Rypal was murdered. "At this moment, it isn't possible to provide further information," said Hajek. Rypal has been missing since 22 April 2008. In the past, his sister wrote on a social network about learning new information. According to her, the journalist was murdered. In 2019, the police reported that the suspicion of his murder had not yet been confirmed. jrg/df/ko
