OTS: From Feb. 1st InterRail 15 % Discount Promotes European Rail Holidays

InterRail reports an increase in travellers with popular Global Pass in 2013

From February 1st to March 31st InterRail travellers can take advantage of reduced fares when discovering Europe by Rail. A 15% discount on all InterRail Global Passes that are valid for rail travel across Europe grants a value for money travel experience that is available to all age groups. The promotional passes can be used for travel until the middle of June.

The InterRail Global Pass offers train travel throughout 30 European countries from Scandinavia to Turkey, starting from five days up to one month. This gives the pass holder the freedom to choose and even change their itinerary on the move.

Since the introduction of InterRail in 1972, rail pass travel through Europe has become a popular option amongst youngsters under the age of twenty-six. In recent years families and seniors have also started to favour budget-friendly train holidays as InterRail is most definitely available to all ages. In fact, both senior travellers and young people can benefit from special fares, granting a total discount of up to 40 % based on the full fare price.

With the increasing popularity of rail pass travel, revenues generated by InterRail Global Pass sales in 2013 increased by 7.6 % compared to 2012. The total number of InterRail travellers reached over 220,000 in the same year.

Offering this spring deal, InterRail intends to stimulate the sales of the popular Global Passes and to create awareness that travelling by rail on an InterRail Pass is a special and sustainable way to explore Europe. "Travelling off-season guarantees an improved travel experience, as touristic sights as well as other facilities are less crowded and prices are lower," Marketing Manager, Silvia Goerlach states. In addition to the widely valid InterRail Pass, customers can use the Rail Planner Offline App to access all relevant travel information including timetables and information on further benefits and discount that come along with the Pass. The Rail Planner App is available for iOS and Android smart phones for free.
