Bratislava, 9 June (TASR) - Discussions on the draft of the new Civil Code will continue, with the coalition Slovak National Party (SNS) set to raise objections to the proposal, SNS leader and parliamentary vice-chair Andrej Danko announced on Tuesday.
"We'll raise certain objections. There are issues that, in my view, shouldn't be incorporated into inheritance proceedings. In the area of property and apartment rentals, there's a need to address matters such as replacement housing, the rights of landlords and many other issues," Danko told reporters in Parliament.
Earlier in the day, Parliament advanced the draft new Civil Code, sponsored by the Justice Ministry, to its second reading. A final decision on the legislation is expected to be taken at the next parliamentary session, which is due to begin on 15 September.
Danko also commented on Tuesday on an amendment to the Act on the Protection, Support and Development of Public Health, drafted by the Health Ministry. SNS has submitted an amendment to the bill, seeking to remove provisions that it believes could threaten the work of beauticians.
Danko explained that the originally proposed legislation doesn't clearly define what constitutes a cosmetic procedure and what qualifies as a medical procedure. He rejected opposition claims that SNS's proposal would open the way for beauty salons to administer botox injections without proper regulation.
The SNS chair underlined that botox injections are currently not permitted in beauty salons and would remain prohibited even if the SNS amendment were adopted.
